[00:00:00:13 - 00:00:02:21]
and artistry makes the world a better place,
[00:00:02:21 - 00:00:06:09]
period. It only adds. It doesn't take away.
[00:00:06:09 - 00:00:08:11]
there's no shortage
[00:00:08:11 - 00:00:12:23]
(Blank Audio)
[00:00:12:23 - 00:00:30:17]
There was this longitudinal study done on a class of second graders where I think it was like 95% of them scored at the genius level of creativity. They followed them until they were age 35 and by 35 only
[00:00:30:17 - 00:00:37:01]
2% were still scoring at the genius level for creativity. We have it and then we lose it.
[00:00:37:01 - 00:00:49:17]
What would the world be like if we kept our genius creativity through adulthood? I mean how much more peaceful, beautiful, interesting, vibrant would the world be? I
[00:00:49:17 - 00:00:50:15]
want to share this with you.
[00:00:50:15 - 00:01:01:05]
I'm not only going to give you the seeds, I'm going to give you water and sunlight and a little encouragement. And that is all you need to launch your career as an artist.
[00:01:02:09 - 00:01:05:21]
(Paper Crinkling) You ever use an outhouse?
[00:01:09:08 - 00:01:09:15]
The bathroom.
[00:01:13:11 - 00:01:32:23]
Artists are feeling machines. We are sensitive and we have a unique ability to take what we're going through and translate it into a creative work so that other people can have access to their feelings in ways that they wouldn't be able to otherwise. So we really kind of take one for the team in terms of
[00:01:32:23 - 00:01:38:06]
feeling strongly and then putting it into action to create a product.
[00:01:40:17 - 00:01:46:05]
We're alchemists, emotional alchemists. I just made that up.
[00:01:46:05 - 00:01:52:22]
I mean, don't you just want to see a whole movie about this dog? Because this dog monopolizes my attention. It's not my dog.
[00:01:52:22 - 00:01:55:13]
hey, that's my hat.
[00:01:55:13 - 00:02:01:08]
Life
[00:02:01:08 - 00:02:04:15]
is, life is
[00:02:05:09 - 00:02:24:09]
So one of the best ways that you can figure out what to make a movie about is to look at where you're emotionally activated. Angry, sad, confused, disgusted, outraged, in love, joyful, ecstatic, hopeful. These feelings are going to show you
[00:02:24:09 - 00:02:30:09]
where there's a potential idea for a movie and the stronger the feeling the more likely there's a movie there.
[00:02:31:17 - 00:02:38:12]
one thing that's important to note is your movie should not be less extraordinary than life.
[00:02:39:21 - 00:02:40:10]
Life is crazy.
[00:02:41:13 - 00:02:55:03]
People are crazy. There is bonkers stuff that happens all the time. Uh, truly unbelievable things, whether it's behavior or natural events or animals.
[00:02:56:09 - 00:03:01:20]
So what you don't want is for your, what's on the page to be more boring than what happens in life.
[00:03:03:15 - 00:03:04:11]
You can even be
[00:03:04:11 - 00:03:11:04]
more extraordinary on the page than life because it's a movie and we suspend our disbelief when watching a movie.
[00:03:12:09 - 00:03:22:07]
So just make sure that whatever you're writing about, be bold, don't be scared. There are some really, really crazy things that happen in movies all the time.
[00:03:23:08 - 00:03:30:10]
Think of your favorite movie and just think about like if you wrote down the plot, how actually insane it would be.
[00:03:32:02 - 00:03:33:05]
So don't be afraid to be bold.
[00:03:34:08 - 00:03:39:22]
Now how to find your activation. Take the things that you've been thinking about for the past few months. Things that have been
[00:03:39:22 - 00:03:42:08]
keeping you up at night, that you maybe gotten in
[00:03:42:08 - 00:03:46:15]
fights about, the things that make you dance in the street,
[00:03:46:15 - 00:03:57:03]
write down a list of everything that's been activating you and then sleep on it. Next day, wake up, narrow it down to five. Sleep on it. Next day, narrow it down to one. And
[00:03:57:03 - 00:03:57:20]
that is your film.
[00:03:58:22 - 00:04:04:12]
The biggest thing that I've learned when I train artists is that most of them
[00:04:04:12 - 00:04:09:23]
don't wanna do the work, they don't wanna do the work. They don't see it as mandatory.
[00:04:11:13 - 00:04:20:04]
you're trying to grow a garden, and I told you that the main thing that you need to do is plant the seed, and you never plant the seed,
[00:04:21:10 - 00:04:22:09]
you're not gonna grow a garden.
[00:04:24:03 - 00:04:40:01]
is me to add
[00:04:40:01 - 00:04:41:05]
take 4.
[00:04:41:05 - 00:05:02:15]
on the cook side, competition is very low. The competition is very low, because most people just do not do the work. You want a career as an artist, just do the work, that's it, just do it. Just show up, just do
[00:05:02:15 - 00:05:06:02]
it, please, just show up and fucking do
[00:05:06:02 - 00:05:08:08]
the work. You don't have to be good, you actually
[00:05:08:08 - 00:05:09:17]
don't have to be good at the work.
[00:05:10:19 - 00:05:32:02]
putting together a library of material showing you exactly how I did what I did.
[00:05:32:02 - 00:05:37:13]
lot of my content is free, like the podcast. I call it an audio library because the library sounds fancier.
[00:05:37:13 - 00:05:45:13]
also the classes that I've created on acting, writing, directing, creating your own films. I teach you
[00:05:45:13 - 00:05:49:03]
exactly what I did in order to get to where I am.
[00:05:49:03 - 00:05:51:12]
the whole point of this is results.
[00:05:52:23 - 00:05:56:13]
I want you to get results. So when I work with people, I did the math,
[00:05:56:13 - 00:06:03:17]
my clients book a job within one month of finishing a program with me.
[00:06:03:17 - 00:06:20:09]
That's a class or a coaching program one on one, 50% of people book something. And that is in the COVID market, that's in the strikes market, that's in the whatever market we're in now with Hollywood. So I really take results seriously and you should too.
[00:06:20:09 - 00:06:22:11]
Oh, you want the ball?
