New York Casting Director Showcase

Three-Week Film and TV Acting Class

 

Bicoastal Casting Director Stacey Rice, CSA has a prolific filmography with credits including the Emmy-nominated series EUPHORIA (HBO) and AMERICAN CRIME (ABC), as well as THE LEFTOVERS (HBO), MaXXXine (A24), WE CAN BE HEROES (Netflix), REZ BALL (Netflix), and the new comedy THE WRONG GIRLS. She was selected by the Casting Society of America for a prestigious mentorship program based on her passion for authentic representation of Native people and communities in the media especially as it relates to Television & Film.

She worked in casting for over 13 years and recently won an Artois Award alongside Angelique Midthunder for the groundbreaking casting of FX Network’s RESERVATION DOGS. Stacey is the daughter of an enrolled Tuscarora tribal member and passionate about Native culture and storytelling.

Class Description & Format

Wednesdays September 16, 23, 30 - 7pm-9:30pm

 
Class 1

For your first class, you'll be asked to bring a scene to present in class with just Misha as she gets to know your acting technique and prepares you to do your best work for Stacey. You'll receive feedback on your scene from Misha and get a recording of your work after class. You'll also get a chance to ask Misha questions in a live Q&A, including some basic career strategy on how to get called in while in this market of 2026.

Class 2

During your second Zoom-only class, you'll receive dramatic scenes to perform live in class. Stacey will work individually with each actor as she directs you into an audition-ready performance. Misha and Stacey will then team up for a Q&A to answer all your questions about big-budget film and TV. You'll also be invited to network with your fellow students and the rest of the Vermilion community!

Class 3

In your third and final Zoom only class, you'll have the option of attending either on Zoom or live in the classroom! You'll receive a comedic scene which you'll perform live in class. Stacey will give feedback on your scene followed by a final Q&A with Stacey and Misha. You'll receive a recording of all of your work over the past three sessions for future use as well as priceless insight into a top Casting Director's audition process.

Misha Calvert

Director and Coach

 

Misha is an award-winning writer, director, and showrunner based in New York. Her latest short film FAULT premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2026. She has created five digital series, including two that sold to networks: STRUT (2018 Tribeca Film Festival) which campaigned for an Emmy in 2022, and ALL HAIL BETH (BRIC TV).

Upcoming work includes the psychological thriller THE ROUTINE, starring Raye and Sawyer Spielberg; and CANDY, a musical short created in partnership with singer-songwriter Kate Eberstadt. She is the recipient of the Panavision New Filmmaker Grant, a 2024 finalist for the Bechdel Residency, and she teaches at Sundance Collab. 

Misha’s creative mission is to make big, bold works of art that protect and empower those who need it most, including humans and our precious planet. She is the founder of Vermilion, a coaching company which provides support, mentorship, and education for actors, artists and multi-hyphenates.
