New York Film + TV Heavy Hitter Showcase

2-Week Class featuring Briana Dunlay, Joanna Levinger, Bernadette McBrinn

 

Get ready for this heavy hitter acting class with 3 top CDs and film writer and director Misha Calvert! This rare 2-week workshop culminates in a live showcase with casting directors Briana Dunlay, Bernadette McBrinn, and Joanna Levinger, CSA. Credits from these powerhouse CDs include Emmy-nominated THE WHITE LOTUS, as well as HUSTLERS, JESSICA JONES, MINDHUNTER, WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS, MR. & MRS. SMITH, THE CHAIR COMPANY, and more.

Dunlay has been nominated twice by the Casting Society of America for an Outstanding Achievement in Casting for her work on THE GIRLS ON THE BUS and SURVIVAL OF THE THICKEST, and Levinger won the 2024 Heller Award for the Northeast Casting Associate of the Year. 

These 3 women have cast blockbuster titles for major players like HBO, Marvel, Netflix, and FX, and have had indie projects at festivals like Cannes, SXSW, and Tribeca. You might recognize Briana's work from the 2026 Tribeca film FAULT written and directed by your host, Misha!

Class Description & Format

Week 1

For your first class, you’ll be assigned a scene to present in class with Misha coaching you one-on-one as she gets to know your acting technique and craft. This is a critical prep week to help you do your best work for Briana, Joanna, and Bernadette in week 2. You’ll receive feedback on your scene from Misha and get a recording of your work after class. You’ll also get a chance to ask Misha questions in a live Q&A, including some basic career strategy on how to get called in and increase your bookings!

Week 2

In week 2, you’ll once again be assigned scenes to perform live in class. Briana, Joanna, and Bernadette will work with each actor as they direct you toward an audition-ready take. Misha and the 3 CDs will then team up for a final Q&A to answer all questions about heavy hitter film and television projects. Then, you’ll be invited to network with your fellow students and the rest of the Vermilion community! You will also receive a recording of all of your work over the past two sessions for future use, as well as priceless insight into the audition process of top casting directors.

Misha Calvert

Director and Coach

 

Misha is an award-winning writer, director, and showrunner based in New York. Her latest short film FAULT premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2026. She has created five digital series, including two that sold to networks: STRUT (2018 Tribeca Film Festival) which campaigned for an Emmy in 2022, and ALL HAIL BETH (BRIC TV).

Upcoming work includes the psychological thriller THE ROUTINE, starring Raye and Sawyer Spielberg; and CANDY, a musical short created in partnership with singer-songwriter Kate Eberstadt. She is the recipient of the Panavision New Filmmaker Grant, a 2024 finalist for the Bechdel Residency, and she teaches at Sundance Collab. 

Misha’s creative mission is to make big, bold works of art that protect and empower those who need it most, including humans and our precious planet. She is the founder of Vermilion, a coaching company which provides support, mentorship, and education for actors, artists and multi-hyphenates.
