Three-Week Zoom Class

 

Allen is best know for his work on ABC's MODERN FAMILY. From the pilot to the finale, he was the casting associate for all 11 seasons. His crowning achievement, however, may have been his cameo appearance in the final season's Halloween episode. He has worked on the casting teams for FRASIER, UGLY BETTY, CALL ME KAT, UP ALL NIGHT, and many more TV and film comedies over the decades.

Casting director credits include the indie film SOUNDWAVE and SCI-FEST: The Los Angeles Science Fiction One-Act Play Festival which he cast for all three seasons. Allen is the recipient of four Artios Nominations and in 2015, he received the Casting Society of America's Associate Spotlight Award Los Angeles.

Class Description & Format

Wednesdays October 1st, 8th, 15th

7:00pm-9:30pm EST

 
Week 1

For your first week, you'll be in class with just Misha as she gets to know your work and prepares you for class with Allen. You'll present scenes that you choose live with a reader and receive feedback from Misha, and then get a recording of your work when you're done. You'll also get a chance to ask Misha questions in a live Q&A. Classes will take place at a rental studio in Manhattan.

Weeks 2 and 3

For Weeks 2 and 3, you'll be assigned scenes, and Misha will facilitate the class while you work with Allen directly. You'll work on comedy scenes each week from some of the top shows in television, and Allen will watch your work and provide feedback. Each class will have a Q&A with Allen and Misha, and you'll receive a recording of your work.

Misha Calvert

Misha is an award-winning indie writer, director, and showrunner based in New York. Over the past eight years, Misha has created a dozen short films and five digital series, including two that sold to networks: ALL HAIL BETH (BRIC TV) and STRUT (Revry) which was featured in the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival and campaigned for an Emmy in 2022.

She just finished photography on her latest short, PINK FLAGS, which stars Raye and Sawyer Spielberg and received the Panavision New Filmmaker Grant. Feature-wise, Misha is shopping her feminist thriller RAGER with Good Question Media attached to produce, and is gearing up for production on her debut feature, UNGODLY, filming in 2026.

Misha’s creative mission is to make big, bold works of art that protect and empower those who need it most, including humans and our precious planet. She is the founder of Vermilion, a coaching company which provides support, mentorship, and education for actors, artists and multi-hyphenates.
