Actor Business School™

This isn’t a class. It’s a movement. It’s time for actors to free themselves from the pain of the broken Hollywood system. Step into your power and watch the opportunities increase tenfold around you.

By the end of this program, you'll have access to...

Bicoastal Casting Directors

We're stacking up an all-star team of Casting Directors who are working on projects on both coasts. Confirmed guests include Aaron Schoonover (SEVERANCE), Briana Dunlay (WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS), Harley Kaplan (SEX AND THE CITY), and more.

Agents and Managers

While we know it's totally possible to build a thriving career without a rep, we still want to give you the wisdom and experience of talking with some. We'll bring in several reps for a small group Q&A with you and will share your work with them in a submission packet.

In-Depth Business Training

You get four weeks of comprehensive training in branding, marketing, networking, and how to build an audience. This is the most unique aspect of Actor Business School™ and the one that consistently gets our actors working more than anything else.

A Community of Artists

Vermilion has one of the most positive, self-actualized, and proactive communities of actors in the world. Our members know it's not about sitting back and waiting. Their addictive enthusiasm and ambition keeps you pushing forward and building friendships.

Important To Note:

There are two tracks for Actor Business School™. An Online Track ($795) and an In-Person Track ($1295). The core curriculum is exactly the same. However, the In-Person Track ends with a live casting director showcase.

Please be sure to fill out the application BEFORE purchasing a place in Actor Business School™. Vermilion reserves the right to refund the money of anyone who ends up not being a good fit for the program.

A Month-Long Business Boot Camp

Here's what you'll learn...

Module One:

July 1 - Business Basics

We'll start with the fundamentals of running a business, which apply to acting just like anything else. You'll be shocked at how linear it is. Get someone to know, like, and trust you and you're halfway there.

Once you embrace these concepts, the business side can be creative, exciting, beautiful, and fun. The online track meets on Zoom, and the in-person track meets live.

This module includes:

  • Lesson: "Building A Brand 101"
  • Lesson: "Secrets of Networking"
  • Live scene work with notes
Module Two:

July 8 - Your Actor Package

Although you are the product and service, you need professional marketing materials to build your career. This includes your headshot, resume, reel, clips, and optional digital materials (social media and website).

In Week 2, you'll get to talk with an agent and manager to gain valuable insight on how to put together a submission package. This "actor package" is essential for reps, CDs, directors, and more.

This module includes:

  • Zoom panel conversation with an agent and a manager
  • Misha to review your headshot, resume, and reel with feedback
  • Live scene work with notes
Module Three:

July 15 - Secrets of Casting

Most actors have no idea what casting is actually looking for. This crash course in audition essentials will help you look at the audition process through the eyes of the casting directors.

The class includes a Q&A with two NY casting directors for both the online and in-person class actors. The in-person actors will be able to present scenes live for the casting directors.

This module includes:

  • Q&A Panel with two casting directors
  • Lesson: "We Are All Content Creators"
  • Live scene work with notes
Module Four:

July 22 - Graduation Week

It's time to bring all of the concepts together as you create your actor business plan! You''ll combine what you've learned about marketing, networking, branding, auditions, and craft into a year-long calendar of acting business milestones.

This is also the week of your final scenes. In-person will present on Zoom to a panel of CDs; the online track will present to Misha and receive notes.

This module includes:

  • Lesson: "Booking The Job"
  • Presentation of actor business plans
  • Live scene work with notes
Module Five:

Bonus: Private Coaching

As the program concludes, you have the option of booking a wrap-out call with Misha for 15 minutes of private coaching. Ask anything related to your career, and get simple, direct answers.

This one-on-one call is your chance to lock in any remaining sections of your business plan or lingering questions about how to position yourself in the industry. Even in just a 15-minute call, many of our clients report major breakthroughs.

You've Got Training.

Time to Get Booking.

You’re not alone—auditions are down, and the industry has shifted. It used to be that conservatory training and a great showcase guaranteed you a career. Not anymore.

Studios and streamers are outsourcing productions. The U.S. isn’t even in the top five filming locations for U.S. film and TV anymore.

At the same time, casting has changed. More and more, actors are expected to come with fan bases, self-made projects, and a clear brand. Waiting to be discovered? That era is gone.

But TV shows are still shooting. Films are still getting made.

The acting business isn't dying. It's decentralizing. It's moving online and opening up to global audiences.

The ability to reach people directly—directors, producers, casting directors, and audience—has transformed what it means to be an actor. Technology can help you, if you let it.

There has never been a better time to be a creator.

The most successful actors don’t wait around.

They build. They pitch. They produce. They make things happen.

Film has a long history of the multi-hyphenate creator controlling the vertical. From Charlie Chaplin and Mary Pickford to Issa Rae, Margot Robbie, and Tyler Perry—they've all created their own opportunities.

As the saying goes:

“There’s a fortune to be made, and your only competition is fools." So step out of your comfort zone—and start running your career like a business.
